Sofia Kandilarova-Georgieva is a Master in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, Chief Expert in the Child and Youth Health Department of NCPHA. Trainer and member of the national training team for training of trainers in peer education approach.
From 2004 to 2012, she was working for Objective 7 “Young People” of the Program “Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS” implemented by the Ministry of Health and funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria – initially as a Program Assistant, and later as a Coordinator, since 2008.
She has been a part of the PETRI – Sofia team since its establishment in 2007.
Sophia Kandilarova-Georgieva was a member of the research team of the last 3 studies (2007, 2011 and 2015) of the ESPAD project (European Comparative Study on the Use of Alcohol, Cigarettes and Drugs among 16-year-old students). From 2014 to 2016, she was also part of the research team involved in the creation of Work Package 4 of the International Project “Joint Actions to Support Member States in their Future Work on Common Priorities, in line with the EU’s Alcohol Strategy” (RARHA), related to the implementation of a national representative survey on alcohol consumption among the general population of Bulgaria aged 18-64.
Sophia Kandilarova-Georgieva has been a coordinator of several projects with international funding.
